Welcome to the home page for the Edinburgh Jewish Community.
The Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation (EHC) SCIO is a warm and vibrant Jewish Community based in the political and commercial capital of Scotland and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. EHC is a mainstream Orthodox congregation under the auspices of the Chief Rabbi. It is committed to providing a welcoming traditional environment for the Jews of Edinburgh and its environs.
Within our Community there are numerous organisations and societies which provide a diverse range of activities for the Jewish population of Edinburgh.
The Synagogue itself, and the Community Centre, which is located in the same building, form the principal focus for Jewish communal life in Edinburgh (Click here for some photos.)
There is a Mikveh (ritual bath) located in the Synagogue grounds (see the Mikveh page), which can used by arrangement. Email the Mikveh if you would like more information, or wish to use the facility.
Use the Navigation bar at the side to find out more information about us. For full information on services, see "The Synagogue" section. To see the Rabbi’s Parsha Sheet, look under "The Rabbi's Section". If you are visiting Edinburgh, the section on "Visiting Edinburgh?" (see menu above) is just for you. - Don't forget to look at "Shabbat Hospitality". The Cheder page contains materials produced by the children themselves, and is well worth a look.
We are also a registered charity, Charity Number SC016924, and are always grateful for donations, which can be Gift Aided for maximum tax efficiency.
If you have any comments, questions or feedback, then please contact the Secretary via e-mail. (Please ensure that the subject line contains EHC General Enquiry, to stop our Spam filter erroneously sweeping it up)
