Founded in the 1970's as an offshoot of the Ladies Guild, the “Lunch Club” has a social as well as functional purpose, whereby senior members of the community can eat and meet friends. The club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Community Centre.
The meals are freshly prepared in the kitchen by a team of volunteer cooks and at 12.30 p.m. the members assist in serving.
Membership fees are paid once a year and thereafter each meal costs a modest amount.
For the convenience of members who do not have their own transport, we offer the facility of a mini-bus which is subsidised by the “Lunch Club”, and members pay a nominal charge for each journey. This service is restricted to South Edinburgh.
New members (age 60+) are always welcome, as are volunteer cooks.
