If you are travelling to Edinburgh on vacation, then it might be possible to be given hospitality on Shabbat if you contact us at least a week in advance. The community does organise some Friday Night Kabalat Shabbat meals during the year, and if you are in Edinburgh when one is planned, then you will be welcome to pay and join us. Look at the Events Calendar for further details. We are not a large community but our Rabbi does try to offer hospitality to the many visitors to Edinburgh throughout the summer months. As all the Rabbi's Shabbat hospitality is funded by the Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation, a donation to the EHC is very much appreciated. If the numbers requesting hospitality are too many for the Rabbi to entertain in his home, then a small group of volunteers will prepare a Friday Night Dinner in the Community Centre at the Synagogue. A charge is made for meals held in the Community Centre, which must be booked and paid for in advance. Even at other times of the year it might be possible to arrange something. If you are visiting and need information, then please contact us well in advance through secretary@ehcong.com for further details. |
