Edinburgh Burial Society

Edinburgh Jewish Burial Friendly Society (EJBFS)

The Edinburgh Jewish Burial Friendly Society (Chevra Kadisha), dating from 1898, is independent of EHC.

The society is a traditional orthodox Jewish Burial Society and will hold funerals both for members and non – members alike in strict accordance with Jewish law. Services are conducted, normally by the EHC Rabbi, at our own section of Piershill Cemetery in Edinburgh.

For anyone who feels that they may need the services of the Society, including reservation of a lair, please contact either the Society’s Registrar on 07308 998879 or secretary on 0131 667 4266.

For anyone who merely wishes to visit Piershill Cemetery, for example to visit a grave, the cemetery is open from 8am to 6pm daily. The Scottish Jewish Cemeteries website enables one to search on the name of a deceased and obtain a map showing the location of the grave. Click this link: Piershill – S-J-C

The official address of the cemetery is Edinburgh Eastern Cemetery Co. Ltd., 204 Piersfield Terrace, Edinburgh, EH8 7BN
